Linked districts
The former towns and villages that make up Boguszów-Gorce appear as separate clusters joined by winding roads. The poster reads like a small constellation, not a single dense centre.

El mapa
Boguszów-Gorce lies in the Wałbrzych Mountains of Lower Silesia, next to the city of Wałbrzych, and it is among the highest-lying towns in Poland. It took its present form in 1973, when Boguszów, Gorce and nearby Kuźnice Świdnickie were joined into one municipality. That history is visible on a map: there is no single centre, but several built-up areas spread along the valleys between steep hills.
Mining shaped the region for a long time, and the town grew around coal and other mineral workings, with housing close to the pits and the railway. Today the most prominent shapes on the map are natural. Wooded summits such as Chełmiec rise close to the streets, and the roads wind along their lower slopes to link the different parts of town.
A Boguszów-Gorce map poster suits a place that is best understood in relief. Streets bend with the contours, the railway follows the easiest route through the hills, and large patches of forest stay blank between the districts. In black and white it shows an industrial mountain town fitted into difficult ground.

Forested peaks, Chełmiec above all, rise close to the built-up areas. With few streets on them, they leave wide open spaces that give the composition its mountainous feel.
The railway threads the valleys on gentle curves and embankments. Its long, smooth line stands out against the short, twisting streets that climb the slopes around it.

Por qué Boguszów-Gorce
Many families from the Wałbrzych area have ties to the mines, the valleys and these hilltop streets. This map gives that landscape an honest, graphic form, one that works on a living-room wall or as a gift for someone who has moved away.
You can edit the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example to name a single district or add a year. There are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. It comes as a digital file for $9 or as a printed poster.
