The Adda channels
Rather than a single ribbon, the Adda breaks into parallel branches and side channels near the town. The waterfront becomes a set of fine, closely spaced lines that print with real depth.

El mapa
Cassano d'Adda sits on the plain east of Milan, where the Adda river separates Lombardy's Milanese side from the Bergamo countryside. From above, the town clusters on the right bank. Its older streets gather near the river, and newer blocks and ring roads spread west across flat farmland. The Adda does not run as one clean line here. It splits into side channels and mill races, which give the map an unusually layered waterfront.
The town is closely tied to water management. The Muzza canal, one of the oldest irrigation canals in the Po plain, draws its water from the Adda at Cassano and carries it south to the farmland around Lodi. On paper that intake is easy to pick out: a straight artificial channel leaving the winding river. Engineered lines and natural curves sit side by side, and that contrast is what makes the Cassano d'Adda map poster so readable.
The river crossing here mattered in wartime too. Two major battles took their name from Cassano. In 1705 Prince Eugene of Savoy fought French forces under Vendôme at the Adda, and in 1799 Russian and Austrian troops under Suvorov defeated the French at the same crossing. Today the bridge and the riverside castle mark where those armies met, a small point on the map with a long memory.
Rather than a single ribbon, the Adda breaks into parallel branches and side channels near the town. The waterfront becomes a set of fine, closely spaced lines that print with real depth.
The Muzza leaves the Adda at Cassano and runs south in a long, deliberate line. It is a clear example of centuries-old irrigation engineering drawn straight onto the plain.
The bridge links the town to the opposite bank. This is where the 1705 and 1799 battles were fought, and it anchors the eastern side of the composition.

Por qué Cassano d'Adda
Some people choose Cassano for family roots in the Adda valley, and some for years spent commuting to Milan. Others simply like the way a river and a canal share one frame. The pattern of channels works well in a hallway or a study, where it can be read slowly.
Every poster can be personalised. You can change the title and subtitle, or set the coordinates line to a meaningful date or address. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the canal engineering particularly well, and Paper softens the river lines.
