Etterbeek Map Poster & Print
Etterbeek is one of the nineteen communes of the Brussels-Capital Region, a small, densely built area southeast of the historic centre. From above, it is a tight grid of terraced streets, broken up by squares and a few wide avenues. The Parc du Cinquantenaire, with its great triumphal arch, lies along its northern edge, and part of the European Quarter spills into the commune.
Much of Etterbeek was built up in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries as Brussels expanded outward, and the map still shows it: long terraces, diagonal avenues meeting at round places, and blocks packed close together. The Royal Military Academy occupies a large site here. Place Jourdan, with its well-known friterie, is a small local centre under the shadow of the EU buildings.
An Etterbeek map poster works almost like a study of European urban planning at street level. The pattern is regular but not monotonous, with diagonals and squares disrupting the grid at intervals. In black and white, the dense residential fabric contrasts cleanly with the open green of the Cinquantenaire and the larger institutional blocks.

Place Jourdan
A small square near the European Quarter, known across Brussels for its friterie. On the map, it is one of several places where streets converge on an open space.
Institutional blocks
The Royal Military Academy and the EU buildings nearby occupy large, clearly bounded plots. Their scale interrupts the fine terraced grid around them.
