Fellbach borders Stuttgart to the northeast, and on the map the two blend together, with Fellbach's streets continuing the city's fabric into the Rems-Murr district. To the east the land rises toward the Kappelberg, whose slopes are covered with vineyards, and the change from dense town to ordered rows of vines is one of the clearest features of the map.
Wine has long been important here, and Fellbach is one of the notable wine-growing towns of the Stuttgart area. The town also includes the districts of Schmiden and Oeffingen, each with its own compact centre, so the map shows several distinct cores joined by roads, fields and newer housing.
