Glenville is a neighbourhood on the east side of Cleveland, running from University Circle toward Lake Erie. On a map it reads as a grid of long residential streets lined with large older houses, crossed by main avenues and bordered on the west by the curving parkland along Doan Brook.
The neighbourhood has a strong cultural history. In the 1930s, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster created Superman while living here as students at Glenville High School, and Siegel's former house is marked today. Rockefeller Park, with the Cleveland Cultural Gardens set along its length, forms one of the city's most distinctive green spaces.
