The Danube floodplain
North of town, the river is surrounded by wetlands, old channels and quarry lakes. On paper this creates a rich, irregular texture.

El mapa
Günzburg is in Bavarian Swabia, where the Günz joins the Danube. The historic centre sits on raised ground above the river valley. On a map, it appears as a long, narrow market street lined with close-set buildings, cut through by old gates and lanes. Newer districts spread out across the flatter ground around it.
The site goes back to a Roman fort called Guntia. Later, the town became the seat of the Habsburg Margraviate of Burgau, which explains the scale of some of its buildings, including the Frauenkirche by Dominikus Zimmermann. Today it is also known for Legoland Deutschland, just outside town.
A Günzburg map poster sets the tight old centre against the wide Danube floodplain, with its oxbows, gravel lakes and woods. The river runs along the north, the Günz arrives from the south, and the old town rests on its spur between them, clearly defined in black and white.
North of town, the river is surrounded by wetlands, old channels and quarry lakes. On paper this creates a rich, irregular texture.
The small river that gives the town its name winds in from the south and meets the Danube. It adds a fine second line of water.
The historic market street runs along raised ground. Its compact shape and dense building pattern make it the clear focal point of the map.

Por qué Günzburg
Günzburg means Roman history, Habsburg history and a few family trips to the Lego park, often all at once. A map brings those layers together: the river crossings, the old gates and the place where two rivers meet.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Each style comes as a 300 DPI PNG and a print-ready PDF in six sizes for $9, with no watermark.
