El mapa
Hulan is a district of Harbin on the north side of the Songhua River, across the water from the main city. The town is named after the Hulan River, which curves across the plain before joining the Songhua, and on the map both rivers dominate. Wide channels, sandbars and oxbow traces surround a compact urban centre.
The land around Hulan is almost completely flat, part of the fertile black-soil plain of northeast China. Roads and field boundaries run in long straight lines, and the town itself has a fairly regular grid. The rivers break that order with loops and side channels that look almost like brushwork at poster scale.
Hulan is widely known through literature. The writer Xiao Hong was born here, and her novel Tales of Hulan River made the town familiar to readers across China and beyond. A Hulan map poster places her hometown in its real setting, between two rivers and at the northern edge of a major city.
The river the town is named after crosses the plain in wide loops, with old channels and meanders beside the main stream.
The broad Songhua River separates Hulan from central Harbin, and its width and islands form a strong band along the lower part of the map.
Around the town, straight roads and field lines divide the black-soil farmland into long rectangles, which balances the curving water.

Por qué Hulan
Readers of Xiao Hong, people from Harbin and families with roots in Heilongjiang often want a map of this place specifically. The two rivers give the poster movement even though the land itself is flat.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a book quotation or a meaningful date. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and order HD files for $9 or a printed poster with an optional frame.
