Itambé is a town in the Zona da Mata of Pernambuco, in northeastern Brazil, close to the border with the state of Paraíba. From above, it appears as a modest, fairly dense core of streets set among gently rolling farmland. Roads leave the centre in several directions, and the built-up area thins quickly into fields, giving the map a clear sense of where the town begins and ends.
The Zona da Mata has long been associated with sugarcane cultivation, and the landscape around Itambé reflects that agricultural character, with large cultivated areas and scattered settlements.
