Jędrzejów is a town in the Świętokrzyskie region of southern Poland, between Kielce and Kraków. On a map, it follows a classic pattern of Polish towns: a central market square with streets radiating outward, surrounded by later neighbourhoods. Small rivers and green areas break the built fabric and give the plan an irregular outline.
Just east of the centre stands a Cistercian abbey founded in the twelfth century, one of the oldest in Poland and linked with the chronicler Wincenty Kadłubek. The town is also known for the Przypkowski Museum, with its collection of sundials and clocks, and for a narrow-gauge railway that once connected villages across the area.
