El mapa
Jhingergācha, often written Jhikargacha, is an upazila town in Jessore district in the Khulna Division of southwestern Bangladesh. It sits where the main road from Jessore to the Benapole border crossing meets the Kobadak River. From above, the river winds slowly across a very flat plain, and the town grows along both the road and the water. The bridge is the focal point.
The road through Jhingergācha is one of the busiest routes between Bangladesh and India, carrying traffic to and from the Benapole–Petrapole crossing. The stretch around the town has long been known for its rows of old roadside trees. The surrounding delta is a patchwork of fields, ponds and villages, and water is never far away.
A Jhingergācha map poster shows a crossing point. The straight highway meets the meandering river, a small grid of market streets forms around the bridge, and village paths spread into the plain. The map is spare, but every line has a purpose. It explains the town's character: a place defined by where people and goods pass through.
The river meanders through the town in slow, looping bends. Its curves stand out against the straight highway and the flat surrounding fields.
The main road from Jessore to the India border crossing runs through town, a long straight line that anchors the whole composition.
Ponds, fields and village clusters fill the land around the town, a fine scatter of shapes typical of the Ganges delta plain.
