Irrawaddy River
The broad river runs alongside the town, with sandbanks and islands that shift with the seasons. It takes up a large part of the composition.

El mapa
Katha Map Poster & Print
Katha is a town on the west bank of the Irrawaddy River in the Sagaing Region of northern Myanmar. The river is the main element on the map. It is wide, slow and slightly curved, with sandbanks that change with the seasons. The town is long and narrow, stretching along the bank, with streets running parallel to the water and short lanes leading down to the jetties.
Katha is widely known through George Orwell. He served there as a police officer in the 1920s, and the town is generally recognised as the model for Kyauktada, the setting of his novel Burmese Days. Some colonial-era buildings connected to that period still stand, and readers travel upriver to see them.
The Katha map poster emphasises the relationship between the town and the river: a broad, open expanse of water on one side and a narrow, finely drawn band of streets on the other. It is a quiet, literary image, a good choice for readers of Orwell, travellers on the Irrawaddy and anyone with family ties to upper Myanmar.

Riverside streets
The main streets follow the bank in long parallel lines, with short cross-lanes running down to the landing places on the water.
Orwell's Kyauktada
The town inspired the setting of Burmese Days. Its compact colonial-era core is still recognisable in the layout near the river.

Por qué Katha
Un mapa con significado
Katha draws a particular kind of visitor: readers following Orwell, and travellers who came up the Irrawaddy by boat. For them, and for families from the town, a map captures a place that is hard to reach and easy to remember.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with a line from a book or the date of a journey, and edit the coordinates. Pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Printed posters come on matte paper, with an optional wooden frame.
