El mapa
Kidderminster sits in north Worcestershire, on the River Stour a few miles before it joins the Severn. From above, the town centre is a compact knot of streets held inside a ring road, with the river and the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal running roughly side by side along its western edge. Residential streets spread out from there onto the gentle slopes on either side of the valley.
The town's name is still tied to carpets. For much of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries Kidderminster was one of Britain's main carpet-weaving centres, and the long mill buildings along the waterways show up on the map as large blocks set among smaller terraces. Kidderminster is also the southern terminus of the Severn Valley Railway, the heritage steam line that runs north toward Bridgnorth.
A Kidderminster map poster shows these layers clearly: the loop of the ring road, the paired lines of river and canal, the railway curving in from the east, and the looser suburban grid beyond. The postal reformer Rowland Hill, who introduced the penny post, was born here, and his statue stands in the town centre.
The River Stour and the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal run close together through the town, two parallel lines that once powered and supplied the carpet mills along their banks.
A tight inner ring road wraps the historic centre, giving the middle of the map a clear outline with the older street pattern and market area gathered inside it.
Kidderminster is the southern end of the Severn Valley Railway, whose line leaves the town beside the mainline station and heads north through the Worcestershire countryside.

Por qué Kidderminster
For people who grew up here, or whose families worked in the mills, the map is a record of a working town: the waterways, the ring road and the streets that connect them. It reads well at every size, from an A3 in a hallway to a 24×36″ print above a desk.
You can add your own title, a subtitle such as a street or a year, and the coordinates line, then choose from Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The digital HD files cost $9, or you can order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
