Kingsville lies on the coastal plain of South Texas, south of Corpus Christi. The land is almost perfectly flat, and the town reflects that: a regular grid of streets aligned with the railway, surrounded by agricultural land and wide open ranch country. From above, the edges of the city are crisp, with fields and pasture beginning almost immediately beyond the last blocks.
The town is closely tied to the King Ranch, one of the largest ranches in the United States, whose headquarters are just outside the city. Kingsville is also home to Texas A&M University–Kingsville and to Naval Air Station Kingsville, a training base for naval aviators whose runways add long diagonal lines to the surrounding landscape.
