El mapa
Korosten lies in the north of Zhytomyr Oblast, in the wooded Polissia region of Ukraine, on the Uzh River. From above, the river is the first thing to notice: it winds through the town in loops, with outcrops of granite along its banks that make the valley unusually rugged for this flat part of the country. Streets climb away from the water on both sides.
The second feature is the railway. Korosten is one of the larger rail junctions in the region, and several lines meet here, cutting across the map in long straight strokes and splitting the town into distinct districts. Between them lies a mix of regular blocks near the centre and freer, low-rise streets on the edges, with forest pressing close around the whole settlement.
Korosten is identified with Iskorosten, the capital of the Drevlians mentioned in early chronicles, and with the story of Princess Olga's revenge on the town in the tenth century. A Korosten map poster shows the place as it is today, in fine black lines: the turning river, the converging rail lines and the patchwork of streets between them, set against open white space.
The Uzh bends repeatedly through the town, and its rocky, wooded banks give the map a winding, irregular line through the middle.
Several railway routes meet in Korosten, drawing long straight lines that cross the whole poster and divide the town into clear sections.
Beyond the last streets, the Polissia forest closes in, leaving the edges of the map quiet and sparse around the denser core.

Por qué Korosten
Korosten links an old chronicle story with an ordinary working town, and its map reflects both: a river valley settled for over a thousand years and a railway grid laid across it. It is a thoughtful piece for anyone who grew up here.
You can add your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose among five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. It is available as a $9 set of HD files or as a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
