El mapa
Kovel is best known as a railway town, and the map confirms it. Lines come in from Lutsk, Sarny, Brest, Chełm and Volodymyr and meet in a large junction beside the city. The spread of tracks and sidings is as prominent on the poster as the streets themselves.
The small Turia River winds through Kovel on its way north to the Prypiat, adding a soft curve to the flat Polissia-edge landscape. The city received Magdeburg rights in the sixteenth century. Its position on the railways made it strategically important in both world wars, and it remains a key border crossing point for rail traffic.
A Kovel map poster sets the fan of railway lines against the river's slow bends and the modest grid of the centre. Together they make a composition that is both technical and calm. Railway enthusiasts will recognise it immediately, and so will anyone who has changed trains here.
Tracks converge from five directions into a broad web of sidings and yards. On the poster it reads almost like an engineering diagram.
A narrow, winding river runs through town with marshy ground along its banks, the one irregular line among the rails and streets.
The historic centre has fairly regular blocks around the main streets. It is a compact core with the rail lines drawn around it.

Por qué Kovel
Kovel is home for many people across western Ukraine and in the diaspora, and a stop on countless journeys to and from Poland. A precise map of the city is a way to hold on to a place that means home, departure or return.
The Blueprint style suits a railway town especially well, and Classic black & white, Noir, Paper and Sand are also available. You can change the title, subtitle and coordinates. Files come in six sizes, from A3 to 24×36 inches, without watermarks.
