Four village cores
Leinfelden, Echterdingen, Musberg and Stetten each keep their own dense old centre. The gaps between them show clearly that the town grew out of a merger of separate villages.

El mapa
Leinfelden-Echterdingen sits on the Filder plateau just south of Stuttgart, and from above it does not look like one town. It looks like several. The town was formed in 1975 when Leinfelden, Echterdingen, Musberg and Stetten merged, and each of these villages still has its own compact core. Farmland and newer housing now fill much of the space between them, but the map still shows where each separate settlement began.
The large infrastructure around the town gives the map its structure. Stuttgart Airport sits on the plateau at its eastern edge, and its long runway is the straightest line anywhere on the sheet. The trade fair grounds lie close by. The A8 motorway crosses the southern side, and main roads and rail lines run north towards Stuttgart. Together these routes divide the Filder into large clear sections.
To the west the land drops into forested valleys, and the regular street patterns give way to curving lanes and dark areas of woodland. A Leinfelden-Echterdingen map poster brings all of this together: the old village centres, the edge of the airfield, the motorway corridors and the valley slopes, all in fine black line work that shows how varied this edge of Stuttgart is.

Stuttgart Airport runs along the eastern edge of town. Its runway and aprons form a long, precise block that stands out against the small streets of the villages around it.
West of the town the Filder plateau falls into forested valleys. The street grid breaks into winding roads and paths that follow the slopes and streams.

Por qué Leinfelden-Echterdingen
For people who live on the Filder, commute through the airport or grew up in one of the four villages, this map shows the whole area on one sheet. Each old centre is still easy to pick out, and the runway and motorways give the drawing a clear frame.
You can personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with the name of your own village or the year you moved in, and adjust the coordinates line. Then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to suit the room.
