Two joined centres
The street network still reveals two separate historic cores, Limbach and Oberfrohna, stitched together by roads and newer neighbourhoods that filled the space between them over the twentieth century.

El mapa
Limbach-Oberfrohna is a Saxon town formed in 1950, when Limbach and Oberfrohna were joined into a single municipality. From above, that double origin still shows. Two older street clusters sit a short distance apart, linked by later housing and roads that follow the folds of the land rather than any single plan. The result is a town that reads as a network of centres rather than one core.
The surrounding landscape is the undulating foreland of the Ore Mountains. Small streams cut shallow valleys, and the streets bend to follow them. Fields and patches of woodland press close to the built-up edges, so the town's outline on paper is irregular, with fingers of settlement reaching along roads toward neighbouring villages and the larger city of Chemnitz to the east.
The area has long been tied to textiles, and Limbach in particular became known for knitwear and hosiery production. A Limbach-Oberfrohna map poster does not show the mills themselves, but it does record the dense, practical street pattern that grew up around that kind of industry: compact blocks near the old centres, looser residential streets beyond, and main roads connecting it all.
The street network still reveals two separate historic cores, Limbach and Oberfrohna, stitched together by roads and newer neighbourhoods that filled the space between them over the twentieth century.
Rather than a grid, many streets trace the shallow stream valleys of the Ore Mountain foreland, giving the map soft curves and branching lines instead of straight axes.
Fields and woodland meet the built-up area on most sides, so the town appears on the map as a defined cluster of lines surrounded by quieter, emptier ground.
