The old core
The historic centre shows as a close mesh of short lanes and small blocks. It is noticeably denser than the planned districts that grew around it in recent decades.

El mapa
Linqiong is the central town of Qionglai, a county-level city at the point where the flat Chengdu Plain begins to rise toward the mountains of western Sichuan. From above, the town has a dense core of narrow lanes. Around it are wider modern avenues, and farmland stretches out in small, irregular plots that the map shows as open space.
The name has deep roots. Linqiong was an important place during the Han dynasty, and it is linked to the story of Zhuo Wenjun and the poet Sima Xiangru, one of the best-known love stories in Chinese literature. The town still keeps sites connected to that story, and many visitors come to Qionglai because of it.
A Linqiong map poster shows the layers of the town clearly: an older centre with finely divided blocks, newer districts laid out on a larger scale, and water running through and around them. The pattern is typical of the plain's edge, where old market towns grew into cities without losing their original street network.
The historic centre shows as a close mesh of short lanes and small blocks. It is noticeably denser than the planned districts that grew around it in recent decades.
A river and its channels curve through Linqiong and cut the grid at angles. These water lines break up the streets and give the poster its main sense of direction.
On the western side of the map, the fields start to give way to rising ground. This is where the Chengdu Plain ends and the hills toward the Tibetan Plateau begin.
