El mapa
Matilda Estate is part of Punggol, one of Singapore's newest planned towns in the northeast of the island. From above, the area is organised around housing blocks set in carefully arranged clusters, with green corridors, playgrounds and pedestrian paths between them. The light-rail line loops through the neighbourhood, linking it to the Punggol interchange.
The estate takes its name from Matilda House, a bungalow built in the early twentieth century on what was once a rural plantation estate. The restored house now stands among modern apartments, a rare link to the area's past.
A Matilda Estate map poster shows the clarity of contemporary Singaporean planning: curving access roads, courtyard layouts, and the looping light-rail tracks. The nearby Punggol Waterway and coastline complete the setting, making it a meaningful piece for residents who have watched this neighbourhood take shape.
The elevated light-rail line curves through the estate, its smooth looping route one of the most distinctive lines on the poster.
Residential blocks are arranged in planned groups around shared green spaces, giving the map a regular yet varied pattern of footprints.
The restored early twentieth-century bungalow gives the estate its name, a small historic element among the new development of Punggol.
