Irrigation canals
Straight canals and smaller watercourses cross the plain around town, drawing long parallel lines that give the map a quiet, engineered rhythm quite unlike an older river city.

El mapa
Matli lies in Badin District in southern Sindh, on the wide, level plain that the Indus has built over thousands of years. From above there are no hills or coastlines to organise the town, so its shape comes from human lines instead: roads running out across the countryside, a compact built-up centre and the straight channels of irrigation water that make farming possible in this dry climate.
The town serves as the centre of its surrounding taluka, and its streets reflect that role as a local market place. A dense core of small blocks and lanes gives way at the edges to scattered houses and field boundaries. On a Matli map poster this transition becomes the main story, a concentrated centre dissolving gradually into the geometry of the farmland that feeds it.
Much of what defines the area is agricultural, and the canals and field edges read almost like a second street network. Some of those lines run perfectly straight for long distances, while others follow older routes across the plain. In black and white, the result is an unusually graphic map, where water channels and roads carry equal weight and the town sits at their intersection.
Straight canals and smaller watercourses cross the plain around town, drawing long parallel lines that give the map a quiet, engineered rhythm quite unlike an older river city.
The centre of Matli is tightly built, with small blocks and narrow lanes gathered together, a dark, dense patch on the poster surrounded by more open ground.
Main roads leave town in several directions toward neighbouring settlements in Badin District, running almost unbroken across the level land and anchoring the composition.

Por qué Matli
A map of Matli is a way to keep home close when family roots or childhood years are tied to this corner of Sindh. The flat plain and its canals turn into a calm, abstract image that sits comfortably in a living room or a family home far away.
