Railway and highway
The railway and main road run close together past the town, and the town's streets are grouped around them. These two long lines give the map its main direction.

El mapa
Mian Channun is a town in the Khanewal district of Punjab, in Pakistan's farming heartland. The land is completely flat and closely farmed, and most of it is irrigated by the canal system of the region. On a map the town appears as a compact cluster of streets where the railway and the main highway pass.
The town takes its name from a Sufi saint, and his shrine is an important local landmark. Its economy is based mainly on the surrounding farms, which grow wheat and cotton, and on the trade that moves through its markets.
A Mian Channun map poster shows the town in its setting: a dense grid of streets on the plain, the straight lines of the railway and the highway, and canals and field boundaries stretching out to the horizon.
The railway and main road run close together past the town, and the town's streets are grouped around them. These two long lines give the map its main direction.
Irrigation channels cross the farmland in long, mostly straight lines. They show how water is carried across the plain to the fields.
The market area and older neighbourhoods form a tight cluster of short streets, a dark core surrounded by open, lightly marked farmland.
