Mīnjūr is a town in Tamil Nadu's Tiruvallur district, north of Chennai, where the city's suburbs start to give way to open land. On the map it forms a compact knot of streets near a railway line, with roads leaving it in several directions. Past the built-up centre the pattern opens out into larger plots, water bodies and the flat country that runs east toward the Bay of Bengal.
This mix of a dense core and loose surroundings suits a minimalist print. The older streets near the centre are short, irregular and close together, and newer residential layouts show up as straighter lines laid out in rows. The railway runs through as a clean, unbroken line, giving the composition its main axis and linking the town to Chennai's suburban network.
