Naic lies in Cavite province, on the southern shore of Manila Bay. On the map the coastline is the defining feature: a low, irregular edge broken by river mouths and bordered by fishponds and mangrove remnants. The town centre sits a short distance inland, with its plaza, church and municipal hall close together.
Roads spread out from the centre, and a main road runs roughly parallel to the coast towards neighbouring towns. Further inland the land rises gently. Rice fields and new subdivisions mix there, and the subdivisions appear as neat clusters of looping streets beside the older barangays.
Naic has a place in Philippine history as the site of the Naic Military Agreement of 1897, signed during the revolution against Spain. A Naic map poster combines that past with the landscape seen from above: bay, river mouths, a compact centre and a growing fringe of new streets.
