Bayfront piers
Long, parallel piers extend into San Diego Bay from the western edge. They form a strong rhythm of straight lines against the open water.

El mapa
National City Map Poster & Print
National City sits on the eastern shore of San Diego Bay, between San Diego to the north and Chula Vista to the south. Much of it follows a regular street grid, with numbered streets crossing lettered and named avenues. On paper it looks orderly, framed by larger shapes around the edges.
To the west, the waterfront is taken up by piers, rail yards and the naval base shared with San Diego. Its long jetties reach into the bay. Interstate 5 runs along that side and Interstate 805 cuts through the east, so the city sits between two freeway corridors. Incorporated in 1887, it is one of the oldest cities in San Diego County.
A National City map poster gives each of these edges its own texture: the fine residential grid, the straight lines of the piers, the curve of the freeways. To the south, the Sweetwater River channel and its wetlands add a softer, open boundary.

Numbered grid
Inland, the streets form a steady grid of blocks. The regular pattern shows up well at every print size and gives the poster a calm, even texture.
Sweetwater edge
The southern boundary follows the Sweetwater River and its marshland. It adds open, irregular shapes at the bottom of the composition.
