El mapa
Nehe Map Poster & Print
Nehe is a county-level city in Heilongjiang, administered by Qiqihar and located on the northern reaches of the Songnen Plain. The land around it is broad and nearly flat, and the map shows it. The town is a compact block of straight streets, with farm roads running out in long, regular lines toward the horizon. There are few natural obstacles here, so the layout is orderly and easy to read.
The name comes from the Nemor River, which flows past the city on its way to the Nen River. Its meandering channel, oxbows and floodplain wetlands are the one strongly curving element in an otherwise rectilinear setting. A Nehe map poster balances those loose water shapes against the disciplined grid of the streets.
The surrounding district is one of the farming heartlands of northeast China, known for soybeans and other field crops grown in a short, intense summer. Winters are long and very cold. In black and white the fields fade into quiet space, and the town and river remain as a small, precise figure on a wide page.

Nemor River
The river winds past the city in loops and side channels. It adds an organic line that contrasts with the straight roads and field boundaries.
Songnen farmland
Beyond the built-up area, long straight roads divide the plain into large parcels, a pattern typical of the farmland of northeastern China.

Por qué Nehe
Un mapa con significado
For people from Heilongjiang, Nehe's simple, almost diagrammatic shape carries the feeling of the northeast: open land, a river and a town built to a plan. It works well as a minimal piece in a calm interior.
