Castle hill centre
The castle on its hilltop is the point the whole plan turns around. Streets fall away from it on every side, which gives the centre of the map a clear focal point.

El mapa
Nevşehir sits on the slopes of central Anatolia, and on a map its streets seem to pour down from a single high point. The old castle hill anchors the centre, and the town spreads outward and downhill from it in uneven rings. Lanes bend to follow the ground rather than a plan, so the older quarters read as a dense knot of short, angled blocks.
The modern city is closely tied to an eighteenth-century Ottoman grand vizier, Damat İbrahim Pasha, who came from the village then called Muşkara. He rebuilt it as a planned town with a mosque complex, and gave it the name Nevşehir, meaning new city. Wider avenues and later residential districts now extend across the lower ground, and their straighter lines contrast with the tight core.
Nevşehir is also the provincial centre of Cappadocia, a region known for eroded rock formations, cave dwellings and underground cities carved into soft volcanic stone. Towns such as Uçhisar, Göreme and Ürgüp lie a short distance away. A Nevşehir map poster frames the city at the heart of that landscape, where settled streets give way to open valleys and scattered villages.
The castle on its hilltop is the point the whole plan turns around. Streets fall away from it on every side, which gives the centre of the map a clear focal point.
The eighteenth-century rebuilding under Damat İbrahim Pasha left a mosque complex and a town core laid out around it, still readable among the denser lanes of the old quarters.
Roads leave the city toward the rock valleys and cave towns of Cappadocia, so a wider frame shows the city linked by thin lines to the villages around it.

Por qué Nevşehir
For people from Nevşehir, the map shows the hill and the streets around it as they know them. For travellers who came to Cappadocia for the rock valleys and balloon mornings, it is a quiet reminder of the town where the region's roads meet.
You can change the title, subtitle and coordinates line to mark a hometown, a trip or a date. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Paper and Sand bring out the warm, dry feel of the Anatolian plateau.
