El mapa
Poytug‘ is a town in the Andijan Region of eastern Uzbekistan, in the heart of the Fergana Valley. From above, the town is a compact grid of low houses, courtyards and tree-lined streets, set within an intensively farmed landscape where small fields and orchards are divided by irrigation channels.
Water shapes everything here. Canals carry water from the valley's rivers across the plain, and their lines, together with the rows of trees planted along them, form a fine network that stretches from the edges of town into the countryside. Roads connect Poytug‘ with Andijan and other nearby towns across this densely settled region.
A Poytug‘ map poster shows the close relationship between settlement and agriculture in the Fergana Valley. The regular streets of the town give way to a mosaic of parcels and waterways, and the composition has a gentle, textured quality that reflects centuries of careful cultivation.
The centre follows a clear pattern of streets and courtyard blocks, the densest part of the map and the core of the composition.
Canals cross the surrounding plain in long, steady lines, bringing water to fields and orchards and forming a delicate network on the map.
Small fields and orchards surround the town, a patchwork of parcels typical of the Fergana Valley that softens the edges of the print.
