Pucheng is the northernmost county in Fujian, bordering the provinces of Zhejiang and Jiangxi. Its main town sits in a river valley surrounded by forested hills, and the map follows the terrain: streets packed onto the flatter ground near the water, with roads climbing out along side valleys.
The river running through the town is the key feature. Bridges link the two banks, and the older part of the town sits close to the water, while newer districts with wider roads and larger blocks spread out wherever the valley allows.
