Qingxichang is a town in the southeastern part of Chongqing Municipality, a hilly region near the borders with Guizhou and Hunan. From above, the town does not follow a regular grid. Its streets fit into the flatter ground of the valley, and roads leave it along the lines of least resistance through the surrounding hills.
This part of Chongqing is home to Tujia and Miao communities, and the landscape of steep hills, terraced fields and small rivers shapes where people build and farm.
