El mapa
Ravensburg lies in Upper Swabia, in the south of Baden-Württemberg, a short distance north of Lake Constance. The city grew along the valley of the Schussen river, and from above the older town appears as a compact, irregular oval of narrow streets and tightly packed plots. Newer districts spread outward along the valley floor and up the surrounding slopes, where the street pattern loosens into curving roads and suburban loops.
The old town is known for its surviving towers and gates, remnants of the medieval fortifications that once enclosed it, including the tall white Mehlsack tower. On the eastern edge the ground rises steeply to the Veitsburg, the castle hill that overlooks the centre. To the north, Ravensburg runs almost seamlessly into neighbouring Weingarten, so the built-up area reads on the map as one longer ribbon along the valley.
A Ravensburg map poster captures that contrast between the dense, walled centre and the greener, hillier ground around it. The city was once home to the Great Ravensburg Trading Company, one of the leading merchant houses of late medieval southern Germany, and today it is widely known as the home of the Ravensburger games and puzzle publisher. The map carries both histories in its layout of old lanes and modern districts.
The medieval centre forms a compact oval of narrow lanes and small plots, its outline still traced by the line of the former walls and the towers and gates that survive along it.
Rising sharply on the east side of the old town, the Veitsburg hill breaks the street pattern with winding paths and open ground, a clear landmark above the centre.
The Schussen river and the roads and railway that follow it run north to south through the valley, linking Ravensburg with Weingarten and giving the map its long, directional shape.

Por qué Ravensburg
Ravensburg appeals to anyone who knows its towers, its Rutenfest summers or the nearby shores of Lake Constance. The walled core and the castle hill make a map that is instantly recognisable, with enough detail in the old streets to reward a closer look on the wall.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised, for example with a street, a school year or a wedding date. Choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and order HD files for $9 or a printed poster shipped from a partner near you.
