Sakura Map Poster & Print

Sakura lies in northern Chiba Prefecture, between Tokyo and Narita. The city grew up around Sakura Castle, and its old centre still follows the pattern of a castle town, with streets running along the edges of plateaus and dipping into small valleys between them.

The castle itself is gone, but its site is now a large park and home to the National Museum of Japanese History. Nearby, a short lane of preserved samurai residences gives a sense of the Edo-period town. To the north, the land drops toward the shallow Inba-numa lake and its surrounding rice fields.

A Sakura map poster shows a place where history and suburban growth meet. Near the lake, a Dutch-style windmill stands in a park famous for its spring tulip festival, a surprising landmark that has become one of the city's best-known sights.

Castle park

The former castle grounds form a large green area with irregular edges and winding paths, now shared by gardens and the national history museum.

02

Inba-numa lake

The long, shallow lake to the north gives the map a broad, quiet shape, bordered by flat farmland that contrasts with the hilly town.

03

Plateau streets

Old roads follow the ridges and valleys of the terrain, bending and branching in ways that reveal the castle town's original defensive layout.
