Shilongba is a small town in the mountains of northern Yunnan, in south-west China. In this part of the province, towns sit wherever the terrain flattens enough to build on: a valley bottom, a terrace or a saddle between ridges. From above, the built-up area is a compact cluster, with steep ground rising on each side.
