El mapa
Sokol is a town in Vologda Oblast, in the forested north of European Russia, built along the Sukhona River. From above, the river shapes everything. The town stretches along its banks in a long band, with industrial sites by the water and residential districts behind them. Dense forest and wetland surround it on all sides.
The town grew around the timber and paper industry, and pulp and paper production is still central to its identity. Sokol received town status in 1932. Its layout shows a typical Soviet industrial plan: large works by the river and orderly housing blocks arranged nearby.
A Sokol map poster traces this relationship between river, industry and housing in clean lines. The Sukhona sets a wide, gentle curve through the frame, factory sites form heavier shapes along it, and residential streets fill in beyond. It is a quiet, honest portrait of a northern working town.
The river runs through the length of the town and is the main line of the map. Both industry and settlement grew along it.
Large industrial sites by the river read as broad, solid shapes. They are a reminder of the paper industry that has defined Sokol for generations.
Beyond the last streets, the map opens into the forests and wetlands of the Vologda region. They leave a calm border around the compact town.

Por qué Sokol
People from single-industry towns often feel strongly about them: the mill, the river, the streets they walked to school. A map of Sokol holds all of that in one quiet image, which makes it a natural gift for parents or grandparents.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and even write the town name in Cyrillic. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
