El mapa
Sultan sa Barongis lies in Maguindanao, on the island of Mindanao, in the broad lowland basin drained by the Rio Grande de Mindanao and its tributaries. The land is flat and wet, and large parts of the municipality belong to the wider Liguasan Marsh system. From above, the pattern is mostly water: rivers, channels, seasonal wetlands and the field lines that follow them.
The town centre is small, with a few streets and a road connection toward neighbouring municipalities. Settlements are spread along riverbanks and higher ground, and much of the land is used for rice and other crops that rely on the seasonal flooding of the plain. In the rainy months the extent of the water on the ground can change considerably.
A Sultan sa Barongis map poster is about the landscape rather than the street plan. Rivers curve across the frame, wetland edges blur into farmland, and the few roads appear as thin, straight lines crossing a softer terrain. It is a spare and unusual map, best suited to people who know this part of Mindanao.
Meandering rivers and side channels run across the municipality, the strongest lines on the map and the main routes for water, soil and, historically, travel.
Part of the area belongs to the Liguasan Marsh, where open water, reeds and farmland meet along shifting borders that change between wet and dry seasons.
Homes and villages sit along riverbanks and on slightly higher ground, forming small clusters spread across the plain rather than one dense town.
