El mapa
Tel Aviv is defined on the map by its coast: a long, almost straight line of beach running north to south along the Mediterranean. Behind it, the city fills a narrow strip of land bounded by the Yarkon River and its park to the north and the Ayalon highway and rail corridor to the east. To the south, the street pattern tightens around the old port of Jaffa, with which the city was merged in 1950.
Much of central Tel Aviv follows the plan drawn up by the Scottish planner Patrick Geddes in the 1920s: a hierarchy of main streets running parallel to the sea, quieter cross streets, and small public gardens set inside the blocks. Tree-lined boulevards such as Rothschild cut through, and Dizengoff Square appears as a clean circle. The city itself was founded in 1909 on the dunes north of Jaffa.
The White City, the concentration of Bauhaus and International Style buildings in the centre, was listed by UNESCO in 2003, and its low, white blocks follow the Geddes grid closely. A Tel Aviv map poster captures that order without needing any colour: the coast, the parallel streets, the boulevards and the looser weave of Jaffa sitting side by side.
The central streets follow Patrick Geddes's 1920s plan, with long routes parallel to the shore and short cross streets between them, forming one of the most legible grids on the Mediterranean.
A long, tree-lined boulevard with a pedestrian median, running from the edge of Neve Tzedek into the centre, it reads on the map as a wide double line through the White City.
At the southern end, the old port town of Jaffa breaks the grid into winding streets on a small hill above the sea, a compact and very different texture from the rest of the city.

Por qué Tel Aviv
Tel Aviv is a city people remember by its streets: the one where they rented a first flat, the walk down to the beach, a favourite café on a corner. A map poster holds all of that in a single calm image that sits easily in a modern interior.
Add a personal title, a subtitle such as a neighbourhood or a year, and edit the coordinates line. Pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 digital download includes six print sizes as 300 DPI PNG and PDF files, with no watermark.
