El mapa
Lake Teletskoye lies in the Altai Republic in southern Siberia. Its outline is distinctive: a long narrow lake running roughly north to south for most of its length, then turning sharply west at its northern end. Steep, forested mountains rise directly from its shores, and the Chulyshman River enters at the southern tip.
The lake is one of the deepest in Russia, more than 300 metres at its deepest point, and it drains from its northern end into the Biya River, one of the sources of the Ob. Its eastern shore lies within the Altai Nature Reserve, part of the UNESCO-listed Golden Mountains of Altai.
A Teletskoe map poster emphasises that crooked, fjord-like form. With few roads and only small settlements such as Artybash at the northern end, the map is dominated by the lake itself and the rivers flowing into it from the mountains. The result is a strong, graphic silhouette.
At its northern end the lake turns sharply westward, giving it a crooked, arm-like outline that distinguishes it from other long lakes.
The Chulyshman River enters at the southern end through a mountain valley, feeding the lake from the high Altai.
The Biya River leaves the lake at its northern end near Artybash, beginning its course toward the Ob.

Por qué Teletskoe
For people from Siberia and travellers to the Altai, Teletskoye is a place of deep water and wild mountains. A map of the lake is a quiet reminder of that remoteness and scale.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Digital files cost $9 in six sizes, or order a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
