El mapa
Tumen Map Poster & Print
Tumen lies in the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture of Jilin, on the northern bank of the Tumen River, which here forms the border between China and North Korea. On a map the river curves along the edge of the city. The North Korean town of Namyang sits directly on the opposite bank, close enough that the two street patterns almost meet.
The city grew as a railway junction, and the tracks remain one of the strongest features of its plan, fanning out from the station and crossing the river into North Korea. Signs here use both Korean and Chinese, reflecting the prefecture's population. Beyond the town, hills and river valleys lead toward Yanji and the Changbai region.
A Tumen map poster has the unusual quality of showing a national border as a line of water, with two very different towns placed side by side. It means a lot to people from Yanbian and to anyone interested in borderlands, and it reads especially clearly in the Blueprint or Noir styles.

Railway junction
Tracks converge on Tumen from several directions before one line crosses the river. The rail yards form broad, straight shapes within the town.
Hills of Yanbian
Low, forested hills rise around the valley. Their winding roads and narrow side valleys fill the outer parts of the map with irregular texture.

Por qué Tumen
Un mapa con significado
Tumen matters to people from Yanbian and to Korean families on both sides of the river. For others it is a rare, legible picture of a border town, a map that tells a larger story through a single line of water.
Give it a title, add a subtitle with a date or phrase, and keep the coordinates line. Blueprint and Noir emphasise the river, while Paper and Sand soften it. HD files for six print sizes cost $9, and printed posters ship from partners in 30+ countries.
