El mapa
Tunceli lies in the mountains of eastern Anatolia, at the confluence of the Munzur and Pülümür rivers. The map is shaped almost entirely by the terrain: streets follow the narrow valley floors and climb the lower slopes, while steep ridges rise all around. The city appears as a branching form that follows the rivers rather than a compact block.
The region, historically known as Dersim, is known for its rugged landscape, and the Munzur Valley National Park lies to the north of the city. The Munzur River, with its clear mountain waters, is closely tied to the identity of the area and to local cultural traditions.
A Tunceli map poster turns this landscape into a striking composition. The two rivers meet near the centre, streets trace their banks, and the surrounding mountains appear as wide open spaces. It is a map where geography is plainly visible, and one that people from the region immediately recognise.
The Munzur and Pülümür rivers meet at Tunceli, forming a clear Y-shape that defines the city's layout and anchors the poster.
Streets follow the valley floors and lower slopes along the rivers, giving the city a long, branching shape rather than a compact grid.
Steep ridges surround the city on all sides, appearing as broad open space on the map and emphasising how the valleys shape everything.
