El mapa
Tynda is a town in the north of Amur Oblast in the Russian Far East, set among forested hills on the river of the same name. It is known as the capital of the Baikal-Amur Mainline, the long railway built across Siberia in the Soviet era. Here the BAM meets the line running north towards Yakutia, making Tynda a key junction.
On a map, the railway defines the town. Tracks, yards and junctions fill the valley floor, and the residential districts sit on the slopes above, with Soviet-era housing blocks arranged in orderly groups. The river winds through the valley, and around the town the taiga closes in on every side.
A Tynda map poster shows a place built for a purpose: the geometric tracks, the planned neighbourhoods and the natural lines of the river and hills. The climate is harsh, with long cold winters and permafrost in the region, which makes the compact layout even more telling.
Tracks and rail yards fill the valley, with the Baikal-Amur Mainline and the line to Yakutia meeting here in a web of straight lines.
Soviet-era residential blocks are arranged in regular groups on the slopes above the railway, clearly different from the natural terrain around them.
The Tynda river winds through the valley, and forested hills surround the town, framing the built area with open, undisturbed space.

Por qué Tynda
Tynda means a great deal to the people who built the BAM, to their families and to everyone who grew up by the tracks. A map poster keeps the valley, the railway and home together on one wall.
You can write the title in Russian or English, add a date or family name as the subtitle and adjust the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
