Weatherford is the county seat of Parker County, about thirty miles west of Fort Worth. Its historic centre is built around the Parker County Courthouse, a stone building from 1886, and on a map the square sits at the heart of a street grid from which main roads radiate.
The town is known as the Cutting Horse Capital of the World, reflecting the number of ranches and training facilities in the area, and it also holds a well-known annual peach festival. Interstate 20 passes to the south, and Lake Weatherford lies to the east, adding a body of water to the wider map.
