Crossing rail lines
Several railway lines meet and cross in the town. On the map they are long, confident strokes cutting through the otherwise small-scale street pattern of the basin floor.

El mapa
Yamato-Takada sits in the middle of the Nara Basin, where the ground is almost perfectly level and farmland once reached every direction. From above, the town is a dense cluster of small blocks and narrow lanes. Railway lines cut through it at several angles, and larger roads fan out toward neighbouring towns. The pattern is typical of the basin: tight, practical and closely packed.
To the west the land starts to rise toward the Katsuragi and Kongō ranges, so the edge of the map turns from settlement into slope. A small river runs through the town. In spring its cherry-lined banks are the town's best-known sight, although on paper the river is just a thin, winding line between rows of houses.
A Yamato-Takada map poster shows how an older Japanese market town fits between rail, rice fields and hills. Printed in black and white, the rail lines become the strongest strokes on the sheet. Around them sits a fine grain of lanes that only makes sense at street level.
Several railway lines meet and cross in the town. On the map they are long, confident strokes cutting through the otherwise small-scale street pattern of the basin floor.
A narrow river threads through the built-up area. Its bends interrupt the blocks and give the composition a soft line against the straighter roads.
Toward the western margin the flat plain gives way to rising ground, so a wider crop shows the town set against the foot of the mountains.

Por qué Yamato-Takada
People who grew up here, or who lived in the Nara area for a while, often want something that shows the place as it really works: stations, lanes and the river. A map shows all of that without looking like a travel brochure.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be changed to add a family name, a year or a personal note. There are five styles to choose from: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Each one gives the same streets a different mood.
