Yamjāl lies on the southeastern edge of Hyderabad in Telangana, in an area where the city's expansion is steadily reaching into former farmland. From above, it shows the characteristic mix of the Deccan urban fringe: an older settlement core, grids of newly plotted residential layouts spreading outward, and patches of open land still waiting to be built on.
The Outer Ring Road passes nearby, a broad, sweeping curve that carries traffic around the metropolis, and the highway toward Nagarjuna Sagar cuts through the area as a strong diagonal. Irrigation tanks, the traditional reservoirs of the Deccan, add rounded shapes of water to a landscape of rocky ground and gentle rises.
