El mapa

Yūki Map Poster & Print

Yūki lies in western Ibaraki Prefecture, near the border with Tochigi, on the broad, flat plain of the Kanto region. From above, the city is a compact core of streets surrounded by rice fields and scattered settlements, with the Kinu River running nearby to the west.

The centre grew as a castle town of the Yūki clan, and traces of that older layout remain in the pattern of streets, temples and shrines in the historic area. Around it, newer neighbourhoods and roads spread outward, and the rail line crosses the town on its way through the plain.

Yūki is best known for Yūki-tsumugi, a hand-woven silk fabric whose production techniques have been recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage. A Yūki map poster shows the town's old core, its newer edges and the farmland that surrounds it.

Kanto plain farmland

Rice fields surround the city on all sides, giving the map an open, regular texture that frames the built-up area.

03

Yūki-tsumugi silk

The town is known for Yūki-tsumugi, a hand-woven silk whose techniques are recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage.
