El mapa
Zelenchukskaya is a stanitsa, a historic Cossack settlement, in Karachay-Cherkessia on the northern slopes of the Caucasus. The Bolshoy Zelenchuk river flows along it, and the village stretches beside the water in a long grid of straight streets and large household plots. From above it looks spacious and regular, with fields and forested hills around it.
The valley is known for astronomy. Upstream, near Nizhny Arkhyz, the Special Astrophysical Observatory operates the BTA-6, once the world's largest optical telescope, and the RATAN-600 radio telescope stands nearby. Ancient Alanian churches also survive in the upper valley, among the oldest Christian buildings in Russia.
A Zelenchukskaya map poster shows the stanitsa's disciplined layout against the natural line of the river. The plots make a large, even grid, while the edges of the map point to the mountains that start rising to the south.
Long, straight streets and large household plots form the typical pattern of a Cossack stanitsa, spread across the valley floor.
The river runs along the settlement and gives the map its main natural line, winding through the valley below the Caucasus foothills.
The valley road leads south toward Nizhny Arkhyz and the Special Astrophysical Observatory, home of the BTA-6 and near the RATAN-600.

Por qué Zelenchukskaya
Zelenchukskaya suits people from the stanitsa, astronomers who worked at the observatory and travellers heading to Arkhyz. The map combines the orderly village with the natural shape of the valley.
Put a family name, a year or the observatory's coordinates in the title lines. Blueprint suits the scientific connection, while Classic, Noir, Paper and Sand offer calmer options.
