The Afrin river
The river gives the town its name and its main axis. It is a winding line through the valley that anchors the street plan and draws the eye out into the farmland beyond.

‘Afrīn Map Poster & Print
‘Afrīn lies on the river of the same name, in a broad valley in the far northwest of Syria near the Turkish border. The river runs alongside the town, and on a map its curves set the direction of the main streets. The densest part of the centre sits on the flatter ground near the water, and newer districts spread gently outward from there.
The surrounding region is known above all for olives. Groves cover the slopes around the valley, and the area has long been one of the country's important sources of olive oil. On a map those hills show as a softer, sparser pattern of tracks and small villages rather than a dense grid, which gives the town a clear outline.
An ‘Afrīn map poster keeps the focus on the town and its river: a compact street network in a valley, with roads leading out toward the surrounding villages and the hills beyond. For many people the place is bound up with family and memory, and a plain drawing of its streets can carry that without further explanation.

Valley setting
The town sits on level valley ground. The densest streets cluster where the land is flat, and the network thins out as the terrain begins to rise toward the hills.
Roads to the villages
Several routes branch out from the centre toward villages across the district. Together they draw a loose star of lines over an otherwise quiet rural landscape.

Pourquoi ‘Afrīn
Une carte qui a du sens
Many people from ‘Afrīn now live far away, and a map of home streets is one of the most direct ways to keep a place present on the wall. The drawing is neutral and precise, a record of where things are rather than a statement.
Write a title in your own words, add a family name or a year in the subtitle, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose between Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Paper and Sand give the olive-country setting a warmer tone.
