Compact centre
The built area is small and tightly grouped, so the few streets at its core come through clearly even at larger print sizes, framed by generous open space.

La carte
Arerti Map Poster & Print
Arerti sits in Ethiopia's Afar region, a territory of low plains, volcanic ridges and long dry seasons. On a map the town is compact, a modest cluster of streets and compounds set against wide stretches of empty ground. The roads that reach out from it are few and direct. They exist to connect settlements across long distances, not to fill a dense urban grid.
That sparseness gives the drawing its character. Large cities crowd the frame with detail, but Arerti leaves room: a handful of streets near the centre, a scattering of buildings, then tracks thinning out toward the edges. In black and white the empty space reads as landscape, a reminder of how large the Afar lowlands around the town are.
An Arerti map poster keeps that balance between the built and the open. The layout is drawn from map data at the scale you choose, so the town can sit small in a wide field or fill more of the sheet. For anyone with family ties to the region, it is a quiet way to mark a place that rarely appears on printed maps.

Roads across distance
Only a few routes lead away from town. On the poster they read as long, clean lines crossing the page, showing how the settlement links to its wider region.
Open Afar ground
Much of the frame is unbuilt land. Shown as quiet white or dark space, it gives the composition a spare, almost architectural feel that suits a minimalist wall.

Pourquoi Arerti
Une carte qui a du sens
People hang Arerti because it is theirs: a birthplace, a family home, a posting that left a mark. A map of a small town in a vast region carries a particular weight, and a clean print lets that feeling stand without decoration.
You can set your own title and subtitle, add a date or leave the coordinates line as it is, and choose between Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Sand in particular echoes the tones of the land around the town.
