La carte
Balingen Map Poster & Print
Balingen is the district town of the Zollernalbkreis in Baden-Württemberg, lying in the valley of the Eyach just below the steep north-western edge of the Swabian Jura. The river runs through the town, and the map shows the settlement spreading along its course and up the gentler slopes on either side.
The historic centre is compact and easy to pick out, with its town church and the small Zollernschloss standing close to the river. Around it, residential districts and industrial areas extend along the valley floor, while villages incorporated into the town sit on the surrounding higher ground, linked by winding roads.
Beyond the town the Alb rises in a line of wooded heights, and the well-known Hohenzollern Castle stands on its hill a short distance to the north-east near Hechingen. A Balingen map poster captures a town framed by that escarpment, where river valley, forested slopes and neat Swabian streets meet in one view.

Alb escarpment
Steep wooded slopes of the Swabian Jura rise close to the town, and their contours bring depth and texture to the edge of the composition.
Compact old centre
The historic core forms a small, dense knot of streets near the river, clearly set apart from the looser pattern of later neighbourhoods.
