The Jhelum's curve
The river crosses the town in a broad bend and is by far the strongest shape on the sheet. The streets on each bank are arranged around it.

Bijbehara Map Poster & Print
Bijbehara lies in the Anantnag district of the Kashmir Valley, on the banks of the Jhelum River. The river is the main feature of the map. It enters as a broad curve, splits the town into two parts and continues northwest toward Srinagar. Streets gather close to both banks, and the valley floor spreads out flat on either side.
The town is well known for its willow. Plantations along the river provide the wood for Kashmir willow cricket bats, and bat-making workshops line the roads leading out of town. Bijbehara also has an old Mughal-era chinar garden near the river, a reminder that the valley has long been prized for its trees and water.
A Bijbehara map poster shows the Jhelum clearly, a wide, smooth curve that frames the whole composition. Around it, the older lanes look fine and irregular, while the highway passing the town draws a straighter line. It gives an accurate view of a valley town that grew up around its river.

Bridge crossing
A bridge links the two halves of the town over the Jhelum. On the map it is a short, clear connection across the widest open space.
Willow country
Flat land around the town is planted with willow for Kashmir's cricket bat industry. On the map it appears as open ground between the river and the roads.

Pourquoi Bijbehara
Une carte qui a du sens
Bijbehara is home, or a family origin, for many Kashmiris living elsewhere. A map of its river and lanes is a restrained way to keep that connection in view, and it steers clear of the valley's more familiar postcard images.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can be personalised with a name, a date or a line in any language that suits you. There are five styles, from Classic black & white to the warmer Sand and Paper.
