Homes and lanes group together into a loose centre, whose soft, informal edges contrast with the more orderly layouts of planned towns.

La carte
Bugaragara Map Poster & Print
Bugaragara lies in Rwanda's Eastern Province, in the lower, drier country of the north-east, where the hills are gentler than in the west of the country and the land opens toward wide horizons. On a map, the settlement is a loose cluster of homesteads and lanes, connected to its surroundings by a network of dirt roads and footpaths.
Farming and cattle-keeping shape this part of Rwanda, and the landscape around the settlement reflects that, with scattered plots, grazing land and tracks that follow the lie of the hills. A monochrome print picks out the paths as fine threads that branch and reconnect across the countryside.
A Bugaragara map poster is a record of a place that seldom appears on printed maps. It suits people who live or have worked there, including teachers, health workers and those involved in local projects, as well as families for whom this corner of eastern Rwanda is simply home.

Branching paths
Dirt roads and footpaths spread outward in every direction, forming a fine, tree-like network that gives the print its delicate texture.
Open hill country
Low, rolling hills surround the settlement with few built features, leaving calm open space that frames the settlement in the middle of the poster.
