La carte
Carepa Map Poster & Print
Carepa lies in the Urabá region of Antioquia, in northwestern Colombia, on the lowland that stretches toward the Gulf of Urabá. The terrain is flat, and the town's map shows a largely regular street layout, bordered by the long straight lines of plantation roads and drainage channels that divide the surrounding land.
Urabá is Colombia's main banana-growing region, and Carepa sits at the heart of it. The airport serving the regional centre of Apartadó is located in Carepa, and its runway appears as a long, clean stroke on the map, one of the most distinctive shapes on the sheet.
A Carepa map poster shows how a town and its agricultural landscape fit together. The compact grid of streets stands out against the geometric pattern of plantations around it, and in black and white the contrast between dense town blocks and the ordered fields beyond creates a strong, graphic image.
